5 Things to Consider When Choosing Your Cabin Rental

  • Posted on
Planning a vacation is exciting but can be overwhelming too, especially when it comes to picking your accommodations. Here are several key things to consider when choosing a vacation rental cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains.
  • First, you should choose a location that will give you access to activities and places that interest you. You might want to stay near a lake, mountain or specific attractions.
    • For example, Ridge Top Adventure Cabin is a east of of Gatlinburg.  It was away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown areas, and instead is secluded and close to Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrances and trail heads. This is great for some Smoky Mountain vacation go-ers but not for all.  It's name comes from it's location, as it is on the ridge top of a mountain range. Some people who don't like the "Adventure" of traveling to the mountains may not enjoy the mountain roads, what we consider "the fun ride up to the cabin". Others, seek out this sort of adventure and embrace it as part of their vacation.
  • Second, make sure you find a place with enough space for everyone who will be traveling with you.
    • This is really key. You have to look at the cabins listings and website. Check how many rooms and how many beds. Ridge Top Adventure Cabin sleeps 10, but one of the rooms has queen over queen bunk beds. This may be great for your group, but if your group is all adults, you might not want to share the bunkroom.
  • Third, check out reviews online to see what others think about the cabins you’re considering. This should be visible on their websites, on the listing sites or wherever you are searching for your cabin rental.
  • Fourth, and one that many people don't consider is your host. You should ask questions before booking so you can ensure that your host is going to do their part to help you have a great stay.
    • I spent my corporate career (over a decade) in customer service and sales support.  Making sure the customer / guest is happy is my specialty!
  • Finally, make sure the cabin has the type of entertainment that will help you and your fellow travelers have a fun and memorable trip.
    • We curated the amenities at Ridge Top Adventure Cabin to entertain adults and kids of all ages.  For relaxation, the luxury 7 person hot tub in the private screened in porch tops the list.  The firepit surrounded by Adirondack chairs and lit up by the mountain stars is a close second!  The theater room with two levels of couches and plenty of extra pillows provides indoor relaxation.  The new comfy couches upstairs with the fireplace and new TV offers a second cozy option for indoor relaxation. The game offerings are plenty - from the 3,000 game 2-player multi-cade and air hockey table to the large selection of board games, books and puzzles... There is even a basket of toddler toys to keep your littlest guests entertained.
